Expressions of Interest for Canadian Arts Presenters to Attend MASA 2026 (African Performing Arts Market of Abidjan)

Eligible Applicants: Canadian Presenters
Event dates: 11 – 18 April 2026
Travel dates: 9 – 18 April 2026
Notification: March 6, 2026*
*The final delegation will be confirmed upon approval of funding. (currently pending, with funding results in mid March 2026)*

Participant Required Contribution (if selected):
Participants independantly arrange and finance their own travel visas and vaccinations.
Pending funding announcements, participants may also be required to contribute up to $1,000 as a participant fee to cover costs.

About this Opportunity

Expressions of Interest for Canadian Arts Presenters are now open for support to attend MASA April 11 – 18, 2026. As a key gathering for performing arts professionals, MASA will welcome over 800 artists, 400 journalists, 500 industry experts, and numerous international cultural institutions. For one week, MASA will offer a vibrant program of artistic showcases, professional exchanges, and collaboration opportunities.

Program Opportunities

  • To build strong international relationships in the performing arts
  • To consider new methods of working and collaborating together, where challenging environments push our boundaries and understandings
  • To assist in knowledge transfer across generations

Eligibility Criteria

PRESENTERS must meet the following criteria:

  • Must have previous experience hosting international work.
  • Must have the human and financial resources to program international work.
  • Demonstrate the ability to return home and champion the work you have seen to your region and network.
  • Must have the capacity to build relationships across networks in Canada to promote International projects.  
  • Must have the knowledge of the Canadian performing arts sector to able to act as an ambassador for Canadian artists on the International scene.
  • Must be willing and can demonstrate a willingness to encourage international exchange and collaborations
  • Must represent an organization that holds a CAPACOA membership at both the time of application and during the membership year when the period of travel occurs.

Additional Information

CAPACOA will be responsible for:

  • Airfare from Canada to Abidjan
  • Out-of-country accommodations
  • Organization of travel arrangements
  • Coordination of meetings and schedule during the event 

Each PRESENTER will be responsible for:

  • All ground transportation within Canada and abroad
  • Daily per diem
  • Submitting a final report to CAPACOA
  • A valid Canadian passport with at least six (6) months of validity left
  • A travel Visa and its fees
  • Appropriate vaccinations and their fees
  • Pending funding announcements, participants may also be required to contribute up to $1,000 as a participant fee to cover costs. 

Your expression of interest does not guarantee participation – participants will be selected by jury.
