October 30, 2012 – CAPACOA wishes to express regret over the folding of the Canadian Conference of the Arts.
This 67 year old arts organization had a broad mandate and diverse membership. It played a crucial role as a catalyst for change and champion of the Canadian arts and culture sector. The sector will lose services CAPACOA considers essential such as its federal budget analyses and leadership on federal policy issues. The CCA was an important advocacy resource for many, and routinely brought the sector together to discuss issues such as taxation, status of the artist, copyright, cultural funding, and arts and education.
CAPACOA wishes to thank the board and staff leadership of the CCA for their tireless commitment, and will work with the national community to best manage the gap created by its closure.
