May 26, 2017 – Network members of CAPACOA and RIDEAU had a joint meeting for the first time to learn from one another and explore ways to collaborate in the future.
The convening was held in Montréal at Monument National on May 23-24. The event was scheduled to enable participation at the ISPA conference. Charles Vallerand was the moderator. He facilitated the conversation by mediating the language barrier.
Some of the topics of common interest included advocacy strategies to advance the status of the artist, national block booking, digital innovation, curatorial practices and risk management, professional development and developing the next generation. A proposal for a national cultural summit was further discussed with a view to reconnect with the value of live performances for the wellbeing of Canadians and their communities.
Participants had very positive words about this first joint meeting, and were looking forward to repeat the experience in years to come.
The National Network Meeting is funded by the Government of Canada.
