Dominique Fils-AiméDominique Fils-Aimé presents Three Little Words, the final chapter in her album trilogy that delves into the legacy of African American music. From the stripped-down blues tones on her debut album, to the jazz inflections of her second opus, the latest recording (released in February 2021) embraces the emotional lushness of soul music. WesliBorn Wesley Louissaint in Haiti, he has grown into his role as a prolific songwriter, guitarist, and producer known as Wesli. His musical journey has gone from stringing up an oil can with nylon fishing string to winning a JUNO for World Music Album of the Year. Wesli’s music is rooted in Haitian culture (Vodou, Rara), Afrobeat, Reggae sounds and his Canadian experience (Hip Hop): a natural mix. CORPUSCo-founded by Sylvie Bouchard and artistic director David Danzon, CORPUS is known for its precise and surrealist humour that combines movement with theatrical imagery. CORPUS’ unique and engaging performances are presented in both traditional and unusual locations for large and diverse audiences. Created in 1997, CORPUS now has 15 pieces in its repertoire and has presented over 2500 performances across Canada in 34 countries. Several productions have been nominated for Dora Mavor Moore awards. In 2001 CORPUS won the gold-medal at the IV Games of la francophonie with A Flock of Flyers. OKANOKAN is a Juno award winning contemporary Afro-Cuban roots and jazz ensemble led by Elizabeth Rodriguez and Magdelys Savigne. Taking their name from the word for heart in the Afro-Cuban religion of Santeria, OKAN fuses Afro-Cuban roots with jazz, folk and global rhythms in immigration courage and love. Elizabeth was born in Havana, Cuba and is a classically trained violinist. Magdelys is from Santiago de Cuba and has a degree in orchestral percussion from Havana’s University of the Arts.
