Justine Murdy Co-Founder & Co-Artistic Director, Scrap Arts Music Victoria, BC Justine Murdy is co-founder and co-artistic director of Scrap Arts Music (SAM), a Canadian avant-garde percussion ensemble based in Victoria, BC. For 28 years she has led SAM’s strategic direction, touring development, presenter relations, and communications, bringing the ensemble to stages in 17 countries including the 2010 Winter Olympics Closing Ceremonies. She is currently completing an MBA in Sustainable Innovation at the University of Victoria, deepening her practice at the intersection of cultural enterprise and sustainability. Murdy handles all booking inquiries and presenter partnerships for SAM, whose five-piece ensemble performsu on 145+ hand-built instruments made from reclaimed industrial materials. SAM’s current production, Children of Metropolis — an original work inspired by Fritz Lang’s 1927 film — anchors an international touring campaign timed to the Metropolis centenary, with a confirmed 2027 engagement at United Palace, New York City.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​, among others.
