Wikimedia Commons is a media repository of free-use images, sounds, other media, and JSON files. It is a project of the Wikimedia foundation. This workshop will guide you publishing free-use images, in direct connection with Wikidata and Wikipedia.
This third workshop is intended for artists and cultural workers, beginners and experienced wikimedians alike. It has two sections: a theory introduction, followed by guided practice, which allows participants to experiment with free-use images, sounds, and other media.
What is Wikidata?
It’s a free and open knowledge base linked to Wikipedia. Like Wikipedia, Wikidata is also source of information, crawled and trusted by search engines. For this reason, Wikidata can be a powerful discoverability tool.
