About

A dancer, choreographer, producer and educator with a background in scientific research, Lisa Phinney Langley’s explorations in both the arts and science are driven by a curiosity about the fabric of our existence and the threads that connect our experiences with the natural laws of the universe. Often collaborative and multi-disciplinary, Lisa’s work is dynamic, precise, and rich in visual imagery, with undertones in mystery and spirituality. Lisa’s choreographic process has been shaped through generous mentorship from Crystal Pite, Susie Burpee, Lesandra Dodson, Véronique MacKenzie, and the late Tedd Robinson; through her work with Corpus and Kaeja d’Dance; and through training at the School of TDT, and via independent practice in Halifax and Toronto. Lisa is co-founder and Artistic Director of Phin Performing Arts in Kjipuktuk/Halifax. Prior to her dedication to her choreographic practice, Lisa was founding co-artistic director of Mocean Dance, now Nova Scotia’s longest-lived contemporary dance company.
