Live Performance Town Hall: Setting the Stage for Further Funding Increases

November 28, 2022 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm EST

A purple-hued image of an audience sitting and facing towards a stage. The words "Live Performance Town Hall: Setting the Stage for Further Funding Increases, Nov 28 - 3pm EST" are written in white font above the partner logos (CAPACOA, CLMA, RIDEAU and FAME).

Thanks to good advocacy and a listening ear from the federal government, the live performance sector was granted exceptional recovery and reopening funding. These measures will however soon come to an end and base funding for presenting and festival organizations will fall back to the same level as 15 years ago… unless the federal government invests new funds.

Presenting and festival organizations are invited to a special town hall on federal funding via the Canada Arts Presentation Fund and the Building Communities through Arts and Heritage program. We’ll assess current realities for each program and we’ll talk about tangible actions that each and every one of us can take to convince the federal government to reinvest in these programs.

This sector-wide town hall is co-hosted by the Canadian Association for the Performing Arts (CAPACOA), the Canadian Live Music Association (CLMA), and Festivals and Major Events (FAME).

Presenters

  • Frédéric Julien, Director, Research and Development, CAPACOA
  • Erin Benjamin, President & CEO, CLMA
