#FutureOfLIVE Town Hall

June 12, 2023 @ 4:00 pm - 4:30 pm EDT

A rectangular purple banner with an image of seated audience members in the background. The title “#FutureOfLIVE Town Hall” is featured in white font, with the date of June 12 and time of 4:00 pm EDT in purple font. The logos of the four event partners are shown at the bottom of the image.

It has been two months since the federal budget and, already, we are hearing news of CAPF (and BCAH) clients being notified of funding cuts. In the case of the CAPF, reported cuts are as much as 50%.

This can’t be it. We can’t accept that the live presenting sector will do away with $15 million per year, when it actually needs fresh investments to fully contribute to the vitality of the live performance ecosystem, to the wellbeing of Canadian communities, and to the visitor economy. Festivals and presenting organizations need it. Touring artists and agents need it. Audiences need it.

Members of all live performance associations and presenting networks are invited to a #FutureOfLIVE Town Hall on June 12th, at 4:00 p.m. (EDT). Together, we will lay out plans for the advocacy campaign that will shift the tide.

REGISTER

The town hall will be facilitated in English and in French. Simultaneous interpretation will be available.

Facilitators:

  • Frédéric Julien, Director of Research and Development, CAPACOA
  • Julie-Anne Richard, Executive Director, Association RIDEAU
  • Laurie Gillis, Executive Director, Atlantic Presenters Association
