November 21, 2016 – The inaugural edition of CAPACOA @ CINARS came to a conclusion on Saturday, November 19, with the closing gala dinner of the CINARS Biennale. The finale to this innovative partnership was enhanced with the presentation of several awards.
During the evening, the 2016 National Arts Centre Award for Distinguished Contribution to Touring in the Performing Arts was awarded to Paul Tanguay, a seasoned cultural manager who has worked with companies such as COMPAGNIE MARIE CHOUINARD, Rubberbandance, La La La Human Steps, the Old Trout Puppet Workshop and O Vertigo. Over the course of the gala dinner, awards were also presented by CINARS to Théâtre DuBunker, Saddler's Wells and Meno Plukker.
CAPACOA @ CINARS was the association's 29th annual conference. It happened on November 14 and 15 in Montreal and continued on until November 19 through partnerships with the CINARS Biennale and MUNDIAL MONTRÉAL. The event attracted 150 participants, many of whom were new participants to CINARS.
"We are extremely pleased with the outcomes of the initial CAPACOA @ CINARS conference. The partnership has been a win-win for everyone involved, and we look forward to renewing the experience in 2018," said Sue Urquhart, Executive Director of CAPACOA.
Next year, the 30th CAPACOA Conference will be held in Ottawa, November 15-18, 2017.
