Michele Emslie Elected New Board Chair

October 6, 2016 – CAPACOA member gathered via web conference for the 30th annual general meeting of the association. Many accomplishments were celebrated and a new Board Chair was elected.

After six years on the board of directors, now past president Paul Gravett presented his last Board Chair report. He reflected upon the association's committment to change and inovation, citing as examples the exploration of a new conference model with CINARS and MUNDIAL, the conversation about health and the arts and the most recent initiatives about Indigenous Nations and artists. "Necessity and desire compelled CAPACOA, or rather the people behind it, to continue pushing boundaries – I believe the organization is better for it," declared Paul.

Michele EmslieMichele Emslie will be succeeding Paul as Board Chair. Michele is Community Programming Director at the Yukon Arts Centre and coordinator of the Northern Presenting Network. She is widely known as a relationship builder within the presenting sector and her nommination was acclaimed by the membership.

"I am so pleased and honored to serve as President of CAPACOA," said Michele. "I look forward to continuing to build on the relationships we are developing with Indigenous presenters and artists across Canada and to truthfully reflect our rich diversity through the work that CAPACOA is pursuing."
