Step-by-step insctructions

You will find below technical requirements, as well as step-by-step guides to join the meeting from a computer or from a mobile device. If you have never attended a web conference before, we recommend that you read carefully this documentation and that you test your connection.

What you’ll need – Requirements

  1. A computer with internet connection (you should test your connection and computer compatibility by clicking on this link: https://capacoa.adobeconnect.com/common/help/en/support/meeting_test.htm), and headphones, headset or speakers – if don’t have these, you’ll have to join the audio portion of the meeting with your telephone.

  2. Alternatively, you may join the meeting via a mobile device with the Abobe Connect Mobile app (download it at http://www.adobe.com/ca/products/adobeconnect/feature-details/adobe-connectmobile.html).

Joining the meeting from a desktop or laptop computer – Step-by-step guide

At the time of the meeting...

-          Click on the Web conferencing provided above.

-          Select sign in as GUEST and type your first and last name and organization name.

-          You will then be given different options to join the audio portion of the meeting via phone or VoIP (Using Computer). We recommend that you select an option that will enable you to use a headset, or earphones.

  • Dial-out (receive a call from the meeting): Enter your direct phone number (no extension) as per the example provided, click “Join”, and you’ll receive a phone call from the meeting
  • Dial-in to the audio conference via phone: Select this option and click “Join”. The dial-in toll-free number and the conference number will then appear on your screen.
    • If you select this option, please turn down your computer speakers so that you use only your phone audio.
    • Once you’ve dialled-in, a pop-up box on your screen will prompt you to type a code on your telephone. Doing so will enhance the quality of the audio conferencee.
    • Using microphone (computer/device): Simply select and click “Join”. You’ll automatically join via VoIP (Voice over IP) using your computer’s default sound setup.
      • If you select this option, please use a headset, headphones or ear buds. Otherwise, your microphone may pick up ambient sound, including your own speakers’ sound, and this would impact the quality of the audio conference for all participants.

-          If you are prompted to install an Adobe Connect Add-in or to update your version of Flash Player, follow the instructions on your screen.

-          An Adobe Flash Player Settings pop-up, may ask for access to your camera and microphone. Please select “Allow”, and close this box.

-          If you have any question during the process of accessing Adobe Connect, simply call the office at 613-562-3515, and we will assist you.

Joining the meeting from a mobile device – Step-by-step guide

It is possible to join the meeting using your iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Android device, or BlackBerry PlayBook.

-          Prior to the meeting, download the Adobe Connect Mobile app (available for Android, iOS, BlackBerry Tablet OS):

-          At the time of the meeting, copy and paste the video conference link (above) into your app.

-          Select sign in as GUEST and write down your full name.

-          Please use ear buds to avoid producing echo.

-          If you have any question during the process of accessing Adobe Connect, simply call the office at 613-562-3515, and we will assist you.

Here are other things you can do to improve the quality of the web conference

  • If possible, be on a wired internet. This will save you from being occasionally disconnected should there be interference with your wi-fi or mobile connection.
  • If possible, use a headset, headphones or ear buds.
  • Reboot your computer and restart your modem prior to logging in.
  • Close all other internet applications and connections - Skype, MSN, iChat, mail, smartphones or devices.
